Your baby’s birth is probably one of the most important days in your baby’s life as well as in your own. I am here to support you in creating the best possible experience for all of you. I am happy to spend time discussing your birth plan with you and finding out what is important to you.
The care I provide will be tailored to meet your own individual needs. The amount of support you require can vary considerably. This will depend on whether this is your first or a subsequent baby; whether your last birth experience was straightforward or challenging; whether you have emotional issues that you would like help with clearing during your pregnancy and what events arise during your baby’s birth and bonding period.
I have a birth pool that you are welcome to use. I will provide the usual monitoring of mother and baby, such as blood pressure readings, blood and urine tests, palpation for the size and position of your baby. I can arrange ultrasound scans, if you wish to have these, or refer you to an obstetrician or specialist consultant if there are concerns. If you require any NHS services such as scans, blood tests or a referral to a consultant, your entitlement to free NHS services will not be affected by having engaged the private midwifery services of an independent midwife.
